It will be noted that the manual is divided into two parts. The first deals with the most important forms of true arthritis, and various miscellaneous rheumatic diseases; the second with gout. Although a person may be afflicted with more than one of these conditions at a time, nevertheless this division seems to be a practical one for most readers.
Remember that results are not always accomplished in a few days. Persons with arthritis must measure their treatment in weeks—or months. And it is at times necessary for the plan of treatment to be completely altered—for what helps one person may not help another, even if both have ills that seem identical. Your fight against arthritis can be likened to a struggle between two great armies. Where one has the upper hand, and is firmly entrenched, the tide of battle is turned with difficulty. But it can be done —just keep after it!
